*  Die Kinder von Cali (The Children of Cali)

AWC club member Cornelia K is enthusiastic about this organisation which brings nurseries, schooling, orphanages, vocational training centers and small business opportunities to the poor residents of Cali, Columbia. *  Viva la Vida (Der Freundeskreis Nicaragua)

AWC club member Nora A is a founding member of this organization which was originally intended to help the victims of Hurricane Mitch in 1998, but has since expanded to bring on-going support to poor people in Nicaragua. To learn more about this project, click here.



AWC club member and FAWCO representative Frauke R-H is enthusiastic about this organization which works with female migrants in Germany who have found themselves in a crisis situation or who have been forced into prostitution. Amnesty for Women supports these women by helping them to help themselves. To learn more about this project, click here.



AWC club member Thelma F runs the Altona Hospital's mobile library, Books on Wheels. She is always in need of donations of books in hard-to-find (in Germany) languages such as Farsi, Portuguese, Turkish, Spanish, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Greek, Polish, Romanian, Albanian or English. *  German-American Women's Club (DAFC)

The German-American Women's Club is a philanthropic organisation, raising money for many good causes in Hamburg, including support of the German-American Student and Youth Exchange Program. They work hard all year long, with particular emphasis on their big yearly fundraiser at the SAS Radisson Hotel. They are always greatful for sponsors and volunteers.

*  Landesfrauenrat

The Landesfrauenrat is an association of many women's organizations in Hamburg, including our own American Women's Club. Most of their activities are in German. They have an excellent library covering many topics of interest to women.
