Originally published in Currents, October 2003 Copyright © 2003-2004 AWC Hamburg As of October 1, 2003, all German citizens traveling to the United States without a visa are required to have a machine-readable passport. This means that the old, green Kinderausweis will no longer be accepted. Children and infants, as well as adults, are all required to have the bordeaux-colored Europapass for entry into the United States without a visa. This stipulation also applies to other countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program, such as Ireland, the United Kingdom, Australia and France, to name a few. Visit www.usembassy.de/travel/entry.htm for a complete listing of countries and for more information. |
