Last fall my friend and I traveled to the U.S. for the “Indian Summer,” but it didn’t happen. The maple trees were still green. So we went north to find some yellow and red leaves, and along the way we went to the Yankee Candle factory in South Deerfield, Massachusetts. I have never seen a nicer candle store than we saw there. You couldn’t make out a specific scent; it just smelled nice all over. They have a special room for Christmas and also a room just for children. You also find a candle-making museum and the Chandler’s Restaurant with New England clam chowder. The restaurant is softly lit by candlelight for dinner. So if you ever go north on route 91 to route 5 and 10, don’t miss the candle store, because it’s just perfect.
