  Parent's Guide, Edition 2001

The "PARENT'S GUIDE", the first joint publication of the five AWCs in Germany! ...and another FAWCO benefit!

Our Parent's Guide steers parents and parents-to-be through the maze of German obstetric and pediatric care. It discusses nutrition, education, local customs, and much more to help to make the transition to Germany a little easier for families with small children (and expecting families).

Marline H of the American Women's Club of the Taunus/Frankfurt (AWCT) was instrumental in updating and redesigning this 1991 publication for 2001. Its 150 pages include general information for all of Germany as well as local information from the five represented FAWCO-member AWC clubs (Hamburg, Taunus/Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Berlin).

  Hamburg in Your Pocket, Edition 2000

A 324-page essential guide for those people living in Hamburg, including those who have been here for years. It is available for purchase at all main club meetings from Jenny S (or contact us by filling out our feedback form and specifying which publication you are interested in) for a special price of € 13. Given that many things have changed since the last edition (1994), such as regulations, necessary phone numbers, contact information, etc., you should update your bookshelf!

A 92-page orientation book, produced by members of the AWCH, with all kinds of tips for newcomers to Germany including coping in a foreign land, telephone numbers and where to find things in Hamburg, plus all sorts of lists such as medical and shopping terms.

This newest edition also contains a brand new separate 128-page cookbook with recipes, conversion charts (temperature, weights and measures) and German translations for food items.

These Strange German Ways offers insights into who the Germans are (something which many Germans themselves don't always know), as well as practical advice on everything from approaching a German company, conducting a cross-cultural business meeting or handling negotiations, to dating, dealing with bureaucracy, or finding an apartment or the right school.
